Rock Church Oahu Partners with the City of Honolulu to Revitalize Mother Waldron Park for Community Enjoyment
Honolulu, HI – October 5, 2024 – On Saturday, October 5, 2024, Rock Church Oahu and City of Honolulu partnered together for a day of service to beautify Mother Waldron Park. Twenty volunteers gathered to clean up the park grounds and repaint its walls, bringing a fresh look to this treasured space for the community.
The purpose of the project was to enhance the park's environment, creating a more welcoming area where families, friends, and neighbors can gather and enjoy time together. By removing litter, painting over worn areas, and restoring the park’s beauty, Rock Church Oahu demonstrated its dedication to serving the community and providing valuable support outside its church walls.
The City of Honolulu expressed appreciation for Rock Church’s initiative, recognizing the importance of such partnerships in fostering a sense of pride and unity in public spaces. Mother Waldron Park, a beloved local gathering place, is now a brighter, safer, and cleaner environment that will benefit residents and visitors alike.
Denny Higa, City of Honolulu’s Adopt A Park Coordinator shared, “Thank you and the group's stewardship at Mother Waldron Neighborhood Park on Saturday October 5, 2024. The invaluable help provided by Rock Church helps beautify the parks that our communities go to enjoy and “Adding Quality to Life.”
Rock Church Oahu Campus Pastor Mark Richardson shared the church’s motivation for leading the project, saying, “The Rock Church is a ‘Do Something Church.’ We believe in turning our faith into action. Beautifying Mother Waldron Park isn’t just about the physical changes—it’s about creating a space where everyone feels welcome and proud to bring their family, friends, and community together.”
The cleanup is part of the Rock Church Oahu’s ongoing commitment to supporting the island’s community and its mission to be a positive influence across Oahu. This collaboration with the City of Honolulu reinforces the church’s focus on tangible action and its dedication to creating lasting impacts in the lives of Oahu residents.
The Rock Church Oahu is eager to continue future projects that build on this partnership and strengthen its relationship with the community, working together to make Oahu a better place for all.
