Hot Wheels Boxed Sets
Each year Mattel has released a complete set of Treasure Hunts. They include a certificate of authenticity and have been limited to between 1500 and 5000. From 1995 through 2002 they were available from JC Penney. As of 2003, the sets have been sold to Red Line Club members at hotwheelscollectors.com.
1995
The boxed set was available from JC Penney and limited to 2000. All twelve vehicles come in a blue window box which includes a certificate of authenticity.
1996
The set was available from JC Penney and limited to 5000. The cars are packaged in an olive green and beige window box.
1997
The boxed set was available from JC Penney and limited to 5000. All twelve cars are visible in the tan, red & green window box.
1998
This set was limited to 5000 and was available from JC Penney. The front of the gold window box has all twelve cars visible.
1999
This set was limited to 3500 and was originally sold by JC Penney. The twelve T-Hunts are in a metallic silver window box that features an image of a safe.
2000
This limited edition set had only 3500 produced and was sold by JC Penney. It features all twelve vehicles in a metallic green & silver window box.
2001
The limited edition set had only 3500 produced and was sold by JC Penney. All twelve T-Hunts are displayed in a brown window box with a variety of graphics.
2002
This set was limited to 3500 and sold by JC Penney. The twelve vehicles are displayed in a brown & tan box that features a large Hot Wheels logo.
2003
The set was limited to 1500 and was available to members of the Red Line Club. The twelve cars are displayed in a blue window box with treasure chest graphics.
2004
The 2004 T-Hunt set was limited to 1500 and was available through the Red Line Club. The twelve cars are packaged in a grey & green window box embellished with flames and treasure chests.
2005
The 10th anniversary set was limited to 2500 and offered to Red Line Club members. The thirteen cars are displayed in a blue circular box with the VW Bus in the center.
2006
This set was offered to the Red Line Club and was limited to 2000. A grey window box with black & red graphics displays the twelve Treasure Hunts.
2007
The set of regular and super Treasure Hunts was limited to 2000 and offered to the Red Line Club. The twenty-four vehicles are packaged in a metallic fold-out box with a safe graphic.
2008
The set of super and regular T-Hunts was limited to 2000 and was available through the Red Line Club. The fold-out blue box with a safe graphic displays all twenty-four cars.
2009
The 2009 set was limited to 2000, includes both regular and super T-Hunts, and was offered to the Red Line Club. All twenty-four cars are packaged in a metallic red & yellow gas can case.
2010
This set was limited to 2000 and was offered to Red Line Club members. The 12 regular and 12 super Treasure Hunts are displayed in window boxes with a metallic red case with Hot Wheels logos and graphics.
2011
The 15 regular and 15 super Treasure Hunt set was limited to 2000 and was available from the Red Line Club. The fold-out display box has a black leather appearance, the Hot Wheels logo, “TH” in gold, and a certificate of authenticity.
2012
This set was limited to 2000, includes all 15 Super Treasure Hunts, and was offered to Red Line Club members. The cars are in a black matte hinged display box that has a case emblazoned with a silver foil Hot Wheels logo.
2013
This set features all 15 Super T-Hunts and is available to Red Line Club members. Each two-panel collector box with embossed leather look is individually numbered and limited to only 2000 sets.
2014
This 15 vehicle set includes all of the 2014 Super T-Hunts packaged in a two-panel collector box with the Treasure Hunt logo. The sets are individually numbered, limited to 1000, and are available to Red Line Club members.
2015
This set includes 14 of the 15 Super T-Hunts from 2015 and is limited to 1000. The cars are packaged in an orange fold-open window box with “2015”, the Hot Wheels logo, and “Treasure Hunt” in black. The black slip case features the Hot Wheels logo in orange.
*The missing 15th Super Treasure Hunt is the Ferrari 599XX. Mattel no longer has the licensing rights to sell the vehicle so it will be included as a gift with each set.
2016
The 2016 set has all 15 Super Treasure Hunts and is limited to no more than 1,000. The vehicles are individually packaged and displayed in a fold-open window box with a slip case.
2017
The 2017 boxed set features all 15 Super Treasure Hunts. Each set is individually numbered and limited to 1,200.
Vehicles are individually packaged and displayed in a silver fold-open window box. The box is stored in slip case decorated with parking garage graphics, “TH”, “Treasure Hunt”, and the Hot Wheels logo.
2018
The 2018 boxed set includes all 15 Super Treasure Hunts. Each set is individually numbered and limited to 1,200.
Vehicles are individually packaged and displayed in a fold-open window box. The box is designed to look like a vintage gas pump detailed with a Hot Wheels 50 logo and prices that display 1968 and 2018.
2019
The 2019 boxed set includes all 15 Super Treasure Hunts. Each set is individually numbered and limited to 1,300.
Vehicles are individually packaged and displayed in two window box display cases. The displays are packaged in a black & orange outer box that features a checkered stripe, “TH”, and the Hot Wheels logo.
2020
The 2020 boxed set includes all 15 Super Treasure Hunts and a certificate of authenticity. Each set is individually numbered and limited to 1,300.
Vehicles are individually packaged and displayed in a windowed box. The blue box has the Hot Wheels logo and features the classic green stripe with “TREA$URE HUNT SERIES” in white. Celebrating 25 years of T-Hunts, the packaging is a tribute to the very first box set from 1995.
2021
The boxed set includes all 15 Super Treasure Hunts from 2021. Each set is individually numbered and limited to 1,500.
Vehicles are individually packaged and displayed in a fold-open window box. The red and yellow box looks like a weathered fuel can. It is decorated with stripes, checkered stripes, a large Hot Wheels logo, “TH”, and a diagonal stripe that features “Treasure Hunt 2021”.
The set was limited to one per Red Line Club Membership. The original retail price was $250 plus shipping and processing at Mattel Creations.
