Jesus taught His disciples through example. One way He exhibited His closeness with the Father was through spending time with Him, and the disciples witnessed this connection because they were doing life with Jesus. The Lord sought face-to-face intimacy with God the Father through prayer and fasting and having conversation.

When we dedicate our time to spend it with God, we become more and more like Him. We are able to have a better understanding of the things God does and desires, so that we can then imitate Him. The Bible says in John 5:19, “Then Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.’”
