Torrey Pines Sunset Hike

Join the Rock Church Hiking Ministry for the first hike in our summer sunset series as we journey to Torrey Pines State Beach!

The hike will start at the restrooms by the park entrance at Torrey Pines State Beach. Sunset takes place at 8 p.m. and high tide at the beach occurs at 8:39 p.m. Total distance is about 5 miles.

This hike is moderate. Please self-evaluate your fitness and hiking levels before attempting this hike. The hike is kid friendly, but may be too long. Dogs and pets are NOT permitted at Torrey Pines State Beach.

Carpool is available, meet at the address listed below at 4 p.m.

Itinerary:

• Difficulty: Moderate
• Distance: 5.0 miles (round trip)
• Hiking Time: approximately 2.5 hours
• Dogs are not permitted
• Weather: Hot, but cools quickly in the late afternoon, breezy
• Restrooms are available at the starting point

What to bring?

• Good running/hiking shoes
• Comfortable clothing, wear layers as it will cool down
• Hat or Visor
• Hiking Poles (optional)
• Flashlight or headlamp as it will get dark
• Sunscreen
• Water (at least 1 liter recommended)
• Snacks

Free street parking is available on Carmel Valley Rd. near Del Mar Scenic Heights Rd.
It's about a mile walk to reach the starting point (You have to hike to the hike).
