Join the Rock Church Hiking Ministry as we journey to Black Mountain for our second summer sunset hike. Enjoy a time of fellowship while witnessing the beauty of God's creation at sunset! We will hike to the summit via the Nighthawk Trail. Please self-evaluate your hiking level before going on this hike. This hike is rated as moderate. Trailhead Address

Hilltop Community Park 9711 Oveido Way, San Diego, CA 92129 at 5:45 p.m.
The adventure begins at 6 p.m., so please arrive on time.

Hike at a Glance 

•  Difficulty: Moderate with some steep inclines
•  Highlight: Sunset from the summit
•  Distance: 4 miles (Round trip)
•  Elevation Gain: 750'
•  Hiking Time: approximately 2 hours
•  Dogs (on leash) and kid friendly.
•  Weather: Hike may be cancelled if it rains.

 What to bring?

• Good running or hiking shoes, trail is rocky in places
• Comfortable clothing, bring layers as it will get cool
• Hat or visor
• Hiking Poles (optional)
• Water (at least 1 liter recommended)
• Snacks 
• Headlamp or flashlight as it will get dar
• Bathrooms: Available only if the Hilltop Community Park Rec Center is open
