Pastor Gunnar served in the United States Navy from July 5, 1993 to March 5, 2005 when he was honorably discharged from the service. He is thankful for the lifelong friends and memories in the SEAL teams as they were used to shape him into the man he is today.
In May 2007, Pastor Gunnar was invited to take on the task of revitalizing Grace Point Chuch. After much prayer, Gunnar with the support of his wife Anna, took a leap of faith and decided to take on the mission God had placed before them. Pastor Gunnar came to know Christ while serving as a U.S. Navy SEAL here in San Diego. His story was featured on KFMB-TV Channel 8 and ABC's Channel 10 News. His life story was also recorded on "Unshackled!" and is available to listen to here if you would like to learn more about Pastor Gunnar's testimony:
