Water Baptism

Go public with your faith.
What is Baptism?

An Outward Display of Inward Commitment

Baptism is a public statement that we have chosen to fully embrace faith in Jesus Christ and to follow Him on the road of discipleship. It is an outward expression of an inward change, through our death to sin, the burial of our old life, and the resurrection of walking in the newness of life in Christ Jesus.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” –Matthew 28:19
About Baptism

Raised to New Life

As we are dipped under the waters of baptism, we are raised to new life! Leaving our old life behind, we enter into the new life that Jesus freely gives us. Baptism gives us the opportunity to say YES to God in front of others and invite the Holy Spirit to shape our lives.

If you are a follower of Jesus and have yet to be water baptized, this is an important – and powerful – step in your discipleship journey! Jesus encouraged His followers to be Baptized in Matthew 28:19-20, and Christians have continued this expression of their faith for thousands of years.

Importantly, you do not have to be perfect—or feel like you are perfectly walking out your faith—to be baptized! If you have already decided to follow Jesus, baptism is a great next step.

Do you want to say YES to Jesus and His work in your life? Sign up for an upcoming baptism today!

When are Rock Church Baptisms?

Baptisms are held the third Sunday of every month after the second service. Don't forget to invite your friends, family, or group to share in this special moment with you!

Your First Step: Make a Decision to Follow Jesus

Have you made a decision to allow Christ to be your Lord and Savior? Because baptism is a public display of faith in Jesus rather than an act of salvation, people who participate in baptism must begin by committing their lives to Jesus. If you would like to learn more about the story of Jesus, please click the button below.

Posture Your Heart

Are you willing to follow Him as your Lord for the rest of your life? Baptism is more than just a momentary act. It is a decision to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Because of this, we strongly encourage those who are not actively seeking to live a life pleasing to God to make this commitment before they are baptized. If you would like any clarification or counsel regarding these matters, please contact your home campus or baptism@sdrock.com.

Kids and Baptism

Because baptism is not an act of salvation but instead a proclamation of one's faith in Jesus, we ask that people who participate in baptism are old enough to reasonably make a decision for Christ. If you have questions or desire additional support as you guide your child during this important moment in their faith journey, please email kids@sdrock.com.

For children who are not yet old enough to articulate their faith, we encourage child dedications. Child dedication is for parents who want to publicly declare their intention to raise their children to KNOW God, GROW in God, and SHOW God to others.
